What you will need to pack
We will provide you with a personal light backpack (40litres) and a wet weather coat – a light dryzabone with hood if weather looks threatening) for your walk – or you can bring your own. Each day you will carry the pack containing only what is needed while actually walking. All other gear and clothing will be portaged by vehicle ahead to your next overnight accommodation.
It is essential to wear light walking clothes (shorts if appropriate) and good, worn-in, laced walking boots with good tread. (Jeans or runners are not suitable.) We will advise you about expected weather conditions at the start of walk.
Each day you will carry a light pack which will be maximum 5kg. Be aware of the overall weight which will include a packed lunch and approx 2 litres of water.

Your personal fitness and the Spicers Private Walking Track
The track is generally less demanding than some public three day walk tracks however there are still challenges on the walk so you will need to be reasonably fit.
The first two days offer relatively moderate walking providing you the chance to get your walking legs going slowly and on the third day we ascend to Spicers Peak Lodge. Each day is between four to six hours walking time. At the Lodge you will have the choice of complete rest or more short unguided walks on this stunning isolated plateau.
The weather is generally fairly predictable but you may have some weather changes over the three days of walking. Autumn and Spring having cool nights and fair days with winter having cold nights and at times cold days.
After lunch at the Lodge on day 4, around 1.30pm, we will depart by coach to return you where you were collected on day 1 - arriving mid to late afternoon. (This is day 3 for the 3-day walk)
